Most companies and establishments today are into the manufacturing and production industry. Logistics Managers are the people responsible for the distribution and allocation of certain goods and products from a certain place to another. They make sure that the flow of these goods, materials and sometimes information are in an efficient and organized manner. They also make sure that the distribution and arrival of these goods to their places of destinations follow a specific timeline.

Most logistics managers collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers and retailers to ensure that the specific goods reach them at the right time and with the right quantity. They also work on managing the storing of these products, as well as the proper re-stocking when the need arises. They may also be given the task of managing the ordering and packaging of the goods and products that their company offers to the market.


Becoming a logistics manager may require one to have a bachelor’s degree in logistics or supply-chain management. Other related fields, such as transport management, international transport or business management, can also help you become a logistics manager. Some also pursue the logistics manager career right after graduating from high school by applying for entry-level positions in distribution or manufacturing companies, and eventually working his way to a managerial position. While most companies do not require one to have it, a master’s degree in logistics management or a related field may raise your chances of landing a logistics managerial job. In some cases though, certain companies prefer to employ people who have experience in business administration or have a degree in such field. Therefore, as a preparation for this career, one may enroll himself in a business course instead of or in addition to a transport-related degree.

In applying for a logistics managerial job, more often that not, employees seek someone who has a good background on the applied position. For this reason, people are encouraged to seek experience in the logistics field or in a related field. One can work on school breaks by starting out in small companies in their area which can give them more knowledge and familiarity on product distribution, such as shipping companies and distribution warehouses. One can also gain experience through internships during the college years and by attending management training programs.
