CAREERS IN NIGERIA LNG LIMITED

NLNG Ship Manning Limited (NSML) a subsidiary of Nigeria LNG Limited, a world –Class Company helping to build a better Nigeria, seeks to engage personnel for immediate employment in the following positions:

PLANNING AND MINING OFFICE
REF: NSML/2010/001
LOCATION: NSML HEAD OFFICE-LAGOS

THE JOB:
The appointee will assist in maximizing utilization of NSML fleet personnel (officers and ratings) managed by fleet managers to ensure statutory safe manning levels and relief planning. He/She will provide overall coordination of logistic for implementing all crew changes, ships at Bonny & other ports.


THE DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT NOR LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Plan shipboard assignments for assigned BGT ship and ensure all stakeholders are met.
• Assist to draw up shipboard personnel relief plans /schedules
• Implement crew changes and ensure adherence to uniform interpretation and application of approved policies and procedures to seafarers
• Undertaken quarterly ship visited to the Nigeria officers on board
• Arrange logistic for officers and cadets and contact them on planned for their shipboard assignments
• Assist to providing professional advice and guidance to seafarer on shipboard personnel related issues
• Maintain an efficient crew mail delivery system to Nigerian officer and cadets
• Prepare monthly management report on utilization of Nigeria offices and cadets
• Assist in conducting periodic reconciliation of ship board allowance with fleet manager
• Respond to all issues/concern raise by officer /cadets relating to their sea services
• Support Manager, Manning & Operations in the effective oversight of manning activities by 3rd party Manning Agents contracted by BGT fleet managers
• Prepare joining instruction and leave notification s for office joining/offsigning.
• Acknowledge all corresponded related to crew changes

THE PERSON: THE RIGHT CANDIDATE SHOULD:
• Possess a good university degree in humanities, Law or Social sciences.
• Possess 3 years post graduation manning experience in a shipping organization or HR function with crewing responsibilities in an oil & gas company.
• Have knowledge of shipping operations in the maritime industry.
• Be a good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess computer literacy skills and ability to work with crewing software will be an advantage

RECORDS AND PAYMENT OFFICERS
REF: NSML/2010/002
LOCATION: NSML HEAD OFFICE – LAGOS

THE JOB:
The appointee will ensure accuracy and integrity of seafarers’ records and documentation management. He/She will assist in gathering seafarer’s market intelligence and monitoring and reporting on changes that can impact on manning of NLNG chartered ships. He/She will also assist in preparation of payment schedules for officer and cadet handling / processing of adhoc claim for shipboard personnel.

THE DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO FOLLOWING:
• maintain an up- to –date “Employee Record & Statistics” for NSML fleet manpower (officers, candidate , ratings) and produce employee report as required
• Gather and maintain and up – to- date personnel record file and profile report for officer and cadets: update sea service record including their schedule, bio- data ,career, progression status, visa status, certificate of competency(CoC) and others
• Ensuring that officers, cadets & trainees scheduled to join ships possess valid document required to join. Eg CoC, ENGL, yellow Card, e.t.c
• Arrange logistic and appointments for revalidation of seafarers document s
• Assist in review and drafting of new administrative procedures and work instruction and obtaining management approval
• Make input on payroll for salary administration and payment.
• Assist to collate and analyze monthly /quarterly / yearly invoice, processes all invoice payment (travel, catering etc)
• Handle their processing / control of expenses and follow up of payroll monthly variation reports
• Maintain update financial data concerning expenses and revenue of seafarers; cadets etc in order to have a continuous control of approved budget and alert management on budget performance.
• Develop and maintain appropriate filling system of all financial transaction recorder of NSML

THE PERSON: THE RIGHT CANDIDATE SHOULD:
• Possess a good university degree in Accounting, Economics or Business sciences
• Have 3 years post graduation experience with at least 2 years in a similar accounting function of a reputable oil &gas or shipping organization
• Possess of a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA) and a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel will be an added advantages.
• Be a good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

INDUSTRIAL RELATION OFFICER
REF: NSML/2010/002
LOCATION: NSML H EAD OFFICE –LAGOS

THE JOB:
The appointee will monitor and implement the NLNG seafarers COCS, Collective Bargaining agreement (CBA) for Nigeria ratings, in line with International Labour Organisation (IOL), International Transport Federation (ITF) NAMASA rules and requirements for Maritime Labour. He/She will monitor foster/ensure a harmonious relationship amongst Nigeria ratings on BGT ships

THE DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Initiate the review of shipboard officer condition of services periodically in line with CBA and current realities
• Participate in the Industrial Relation Meetings to handle concerns of seafarers
• In Line with fleet management requirements draft and review procedure/work instruction for the administration of shipboard personnel
• Assist in the development of guideline for the management of NSML’s seafarers right and obligation under the various international Maritime Labour Organization Laws Merchant Navy code of conduct, Fleet Management Agreements, NSML condition of service etc
• Participate in official visit by NSML personnel to NSML fleet at home or hospital.
• Assist in promoting harmonious relationship between the company, industrial unions and other organization that deal with well being of seafarers.
• Assist in evaluating the performance of cadets, investigate issues / prepare disciplinary/ grievance case file for senior management consideration and implementation decision for improve performances

THE PERSON: THE RIGHT CANDIDATE SHOULD:
• Possess a good university degree in Humanities or social science
• Have 3 -5 year’s cognate experience HR practice 3years of which he must have been spent as officer of core personnel /HR function ina reputable organizational preferable oil & gas company.
• Be a good team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
